We understand these things because we've lived them.

Many of us tried various ways of coping with our pain...trying not to think about it, having another baby, drugs, alcohol, therapy, etc. But none of these produced any lasting results.

Emotional

Guilt, Depression, Frequent Crying, Anger/Rage, Promiscuity, Intense desire to become pregnant again, Suicidal urges, Drug/alcohol abuse, Nightmares, Anorexia or other eating disorders, Difficulty bonding to your children...

Physical

Menstrual problems, Pelvic infection, Premature births, Breast cancer, Miscarriages, Infertility, Tubal pregnancies... If you have experienced abortion and can relate to any of these symptoms, most likely you are suffering from what psychiatrists and psychologists call Post-Abortion Trauma.

What is Post-Abortion Trauma?

Post-Abortion Trauma is an adverse emotional reaction to abortion. It is often a delayed reaction and can surface at any time in a person's life... and when it does it can be confusing, painful and overwhelming. If you have had an abortion and are hurting, your feelings are normal... If someone you love has had an abortion and you are feeling bad about it, you are not alone...Abortion affects every life it touches and for many it hurts.

If you are feeling confused and overwhelmed we want to help.

The Ventura County Crisis Pregnancy Center provides confidential one-to-one, telephone and support group counseling to anyone suffering from the effects of an abortion. If you want to talk about it with someone who understands, contact us at 805-648-3301 for the kind of help that leads to healing. It takes courage but, please take that first step and call for help.
